Chapter 1 : The Call That Changed Everything

Kabir was scrolling through memes in his phone , laughing at a silly one about relationships, when his phone buzzed. “Anika Calling…” showing in his phone screen

Kabir smirked and picked up. “Hey madam, what’s up? Did someone break up with you , so you remembered me?”

But the voice on the other end wasn’t her usual happy one. Yeh  “Kabir life break up with me … I have cancer.” kabir

Silence. A long, heavy silence. are you messing with me are you ? Anika said no Kabir felt like someone had punched him in the stomach. “Anika, is this some kind of bad joke? You do love drama.”

“I wish it was.”

Chapter 2: The Reunion

A week later, Kabir stood outside Anika’s house in Delhi, holding a big stuffed panda. “Look, I brought you a panda bigger than you.”

Anika opened the door, looking weak but still smiling. “Wow! You came back from Canada with a Bollywood-style entry.”

Kabir grinned. “A hero never retires, madam.” But his smile faded when he saw how tired she looked.

She pulled out a notebook and placed it on his lap. “This is my bucket list. I need your help.”

Kabir raised an eyebrow. “Are you asking for my kidney? Because one is already damaged from drinking.”

Anika smacked his arm. “Idiot. Take me on a trip, one last trip.”

Kabir’s chest tightened, but he forced a grin. “Alright then, let’s call it your honeymoon in advance.”

Chapter 3: The Trip to the Mountains

The two set off for Manali, just like they had planned in college. Kabir drove while Anika played terrible music at full volume.

“Anika, what is this song? ‘Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai’ is making my brain crazy too.”

“Excuse me, ever heard of nostalgia?” she argued.

After a while, she turned serious. “Kabir, why didn’t you get married?”

Kabir smirked. “I was waiting for you to reject me first, then I’d move on.”

Anika rolled her eyes. “You even turn serious moments into jokes. Wow!”

Chapter 4: The Moments That Mattered

They did everything they had once dreamed of—paragliding (where Kabir screamed like a dying crow), having chai at a roadside stall at 3 AM, and even getting fake tattoos.

At one point, Anika sat on a rock, staring at the mountains. “Life is weird, right? We had so many dreams, but now I have only one left—to say a proper goodbye.”

Kabir swallowed the lump in his throat. “You talk like you won’t wake up tomorrow.”

She smiled. “Kabir… I don’t know if I will.”

He wanted to say something, anything, but for the first time, he had no joke to make.

Chapter 5: The Goodbye

That night, Anika slept peacefully, holding Kabir’s hand. But when he woke up the next morning, her hand was still. Too still.

Kabir looked at her, his heart sinking. “You said we’d go paragliding again… Liar.”

Tears welled up in his eyes, but he chuckled bitterly. “We didn’t fulfill all our wishes… but at least, I gave you one last trip.”

As the sun rose, Kabir whispered, “Goodbye, Anika. You were always dramatic, but this ending is just unfair.”

And for the first time in years, he cried like a child.
