Exes Tickets and Twists short Story

Chapter 1: The Awkward Reunion
“Bhaiya, ek couple ticket dena,” Raghav said, handing over the money at the carnival booth.
The ticket vendor smirked. “You came alone, so why are you buying a couple’s ticket?”
“Bro, there was a discount,” Raghav shrugged. Being single is tough—you can’t even enjoy a discount.
Just as he was about to grab his ticket, a familiar voice cut through the air.
“Tara?” he muttered under his breath.
Tara, his ex-girlfriend-turned-archenemy, was standing right next to him.
“What the— YOU are here?” Tara squinted at him like he was a bad Wi-Fi connection.
“I live in this city. Unlike you, I don’t take vacations from my problems,” Raghav retorted.
“Right, your biggest problem is your face,” she shot back.
Before their argument could reach levels, the carnival announcer boomed, “Congratulations to our lucky couple! You both have won a VIP Ferris Wheel ride!”
“What lucky couple?” Raghav asked.
The announcer pointed at them. Raghav and Tara.
“Bhai yeh kya nautanki hai?” Raghav protested.
Tara threw her hands in the air. “This is the worst scam since my ex told me he was emotionally available.”
“Ma’am, you both signed up for the couple contest while buying tickets,” the vendor said with a straight face.
They both turned to look at each other.
“Oh, so it was YOUR fault,” they said in unison.
Before they could run away, the carnival staff shoved them inside the Ferris wheel cabin.
Chapter 2: Stuck Together (Literally)
The moment the ride started, the air inside the cabin turned colder than Raghav’s dating life.
Raghav folded his arms. “Can you sit on the other side? Your negativity is affecting my aura.”
Tara fake smiled. “Oh, I’m sorry. Should I adjust your chakras while I’m at it?”
A voice crackled over the speakers. “Ladies and gentlemen, due to a technical issue, the Ferris wheel will pause for some time. Please remain seated.”
Both of them turned pale.
“You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. Me,” Tara groaned.
“Koi horror movie chal rahi hai kya? ‘Exes Stuck at 80 Feet’?” Raghav muttered.
Chapter 3: Unfiltered Conversations
Minutes turned into an hour. Bored and annoyed, they started talking.
“Still doing that stupid poetry thing?” Raghav asked.
“Still writing those unfunny tweets?” Tara shot back.
“Hey, 4 people like my tweets. One of them is my mom, but still.”
Tara chuckled. Mistake. Big mistake. Laughing at his dumb joke meant she still liked him.
“You know… we were good together. For a while,” Raghav admitted.
Tara exhaled. “Yeah. Until we weren’t.”
Raghav smirked. “You dumped me, remember?”
“Oh please, don’t act like a martyr. You were an overgrown child. I got tired of being your babysitter.”
“You could’ve at least left me with a nanny,” he grinned.
Tara shook her head, trying not to smile. “And you never knew when to shut up.”
Silence followed. A weirdly comfortable silence.
Raghav looked out at the city lights. “Do you ever think… maybe we weren’t that bad?”
Tara sighed. “Yeah. Maybe.”
Just then, the Ferris wheel started moving again. As their cabin reached the top, Raghav turned to her.
“Hey, if this thing crashes and we die, would you regret not kissing me one last time?”
Tara rolled her eyes but smirked. “No. But I’d definitely regret not pushing you off first.”
Chapter 4: The Ride Ends, But…
As they stepped out, they heard a carnival vendor yell, “Best couple award goes to… Raghav and Tara!”
“What the actual—” Raghav blinked.
Tara burst into laughter. “We’re stuck in a rom-com, aren’t we?”
“Yep,” Raghav grinned. “And I think I’m okay with that.”
As they walked away, neither noticed they were still walking side by side.
