Kindness In Rain

kindness in rain

On a rainy evening, Ram was driving home in his car. The rain was pouring relentlessly on the windshield, and the wipers were working continuously to keep it clear.

As Ram stopped his car at the red light near his house, he noticed an old man and his young son standing under a tree, trying to shield themselves from the rain, but failing miserably. Their clothes were completely soaked, and the little boy was shivering from the cold despite the old man’s efforts to keep him warm.

Ram’s heart ached at the sight, and he felt a deep, unspoken pain within.

Ram started to recall his past, remembering the difficult times he had gone through. He had only ₹2,000 left in his account, with three days still to go before his next paycheck. He knew the struggle of financial hardship.

Ram (to himself):“What should I do? Should I help them or save my money?”

Just then, the red light turned green, but Ram couldn’t bring himself to drive away. He looked at the old man and his son again through the car window. His heart racing, Ram pulled his car over to a nearby shop. He sat in the car for a moment, watching the store.

In the shop, Ram quickly gathered some warm clothes, a blanket, and some hot food.

Cashier (curious):”Why are you buying so much stuff, sir?”

Ram:“It’s for some people in need.”

The cashier looked at him curiously, but Ram was too focused on his mission to notice.

The rain was intensifying, and the trees along the road were swaying in the strong wind. Ram hurriedly drove back to the red light and stopped his car. He saw the old man and his son again through the window, and his steps began to move towards them.

Ram:”Excuse me.”

Old Man (surprised):”Yes, sir?”

Ram(calmly):”I’ve brought some warm clothes and food. Please, take this. It’s not much, but I hope it helps.”

Old Man (emotional):”Thank you, sir. You don’t know how much this means to us.”

Ram noticed the boy looking at him with hopeful eyes.

Ram:”How long have you been standing here?”

Old Man:”It’s been a few hours. We were on our way to our village, but our car broke down, and we got stuck here.”

Ram:”Don’t you have anyone else to help?”

Old Man:”No, sir. This city is new to us. We don’t even have a phone.”

Ram Said to old man :”Come on, I’ll take you to a nearby shelter. You’ll find help there.”

Old Man:”Thank you so much.

Ram drove them to a nearby shelter and made sure the father and son were settled in. The rain continued to pour, but the scene before him seemed a little brighter.

Ram stopped at the same red light and looked at his phone again. His account balance was now zero. For a moment, worry crept into his mind, but it was quickly replaced by a deep sense of peace.

Just then, Ram’s phone buzzed with a notification. He saw a message from an old friend who owed him money: “Hey Ram, sorry for the delay. I’ve just transferred ₹10,000 to your account. Hope it helps.”

Ram (joyful):”No… how is this possible?”

Ram’s eyes widened in disbelief, and a big smile spread across his face. As the light turned green, he drove his car home. A storm was raging outside, but inside Ram’s heart, a warmth was dispelling all his worries.

Ram’s act of kindness had left him with nothing, but in that moment, he had gained something far more valuable. He had given hope, and in doing so, found a profound peace within himself. The rain continued to fall, but the storm in Ram’s heart had passed.
